After the Stage with Lesi: J. Mula Interview

Lesi: You’re sitting down with Lesi with Give it Gas Magazine. How are you?

J. Mula: I’m great, I’m great! Just got done rocking this Fake ID Tour, it was pretty lit!

Lesi: I saw! The crowd was super hype and were loving your energy! Tell the people more about you.

J. Mula: I’m from Little Rock, Arkansas. I left around 18 years old and went around the Atlanta area, Dallas area and LA area, just kind of peeped the scene to see what was going on. I’ve pretty much been doing the music thing a good 10 years on and off and educating myself on how to be an independent artist.

Lesi: How would you describe your sound?

J. Mula: My sound is a real distinct sound. I’m influenced by a lot of artists on the humorous side, like Ludacris and upcoming rappers like Young Thug. They say a lot of humorous stuff and stuff people wouldn’t normally say.

Lesi: Do you have anything in the works right now?

J. Mula: Yes. I have a new wave of music coming up, something very different. I’ve been coming with a trap urban fashion lifestyle type rap, but now I’m coming more from a more emotional side. I got shot in my chest about 3 months ago due to a home invasion. I’m still recouping and going through the motions of life, so I’ve been putting this into the new music coming out.

Lesi: What do you hope is the outcome of the tour?

J. Mula: To really get connected back with Arkansas, because I’ve really just been outside of the state. People that have been following me from the state know what’s been going on with me, but other people in the city, who really haven’t seen or heard me, I really just want to get back connected with them and my roots and let them know I’m doing my thing because I’ve been doing it for so long.
